[Movies] First Pic Of Josh Brolin & Elizabeth Banks As George W. Bush & Laura Bush In W Posted by Ashish on 05.08.2008
Check out the stars of Oliver Stone's upcoming film...
The cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly features Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Banks as George W. Bush and Laura Bush, as they will appear in Oliver Stone's upcoming biopic, W.
"Bush may turn out to be the worst president in history," Stone told EW. "I think history is going to be very tough on him. But that doesn't mean he isn't a great story. It's almost Capra-esque, the story of a guy who had very limited talents in life, except for the ability to sell himself. The fact that he had to overcome the shadow of his father and the weight of his family name — you have to admire his tenacity. There's almost an Andy Griffith quality to him, from A Face in the Crowd. If Fitzgerald were alive today, he might be writing about him. He's sort of a reverse Gatsby."
And Josh Brolin says he was originally reluctant to play the role. "When Oliver approached me about George Bush my initial reaction was, 'Why would I want to do that?'" the actor recalled. "But Oliver pointed out certain similarities I had with the character. We both have well-known fathers. We both grew up in the country. We both have strong mothers."
The cast also includes James Cromwell as former President George H.W. Bush, Ellen Burstyn as Barbara Bush, Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice, and Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair. Jeffrey Wright is apparently in talks to play Colin Powell and rumor has it that Paul Giamatti is in the running to play Dick Cheney.
Stone is trying to get the movie out prior to the November election or the January inauguration.
They don't even look like George W. and Laura Bush. Elizabeth Banks is too young to play Laura Bush, and Josh Brolin looks more like his elderly father than the President.
Obviously, Oliver Stone is in such a hurry to get the movie out by November or January that he doesn't care about details or facts either(probably).
At the end of the day this movie will bomb at the box office like Alexander, and Stone will make excuses.
If you didn't know, now you know!

Jeezus...That's a hell of a whole lot of makeup.
It'll probably be more than a little biased, but interesting in a "can't look away" sort of way due to the all star cast playing the parts of all these scumbag politicians that they probably despise in real life.

Jesus, in hat case I'm pretty sure a good chunk of the population could make an argument for the role.

Hey Matthew, they look as close as your could get with good actors. I don't mind a good actor doesn't look 100% like the person they are playing as long as they can pull it off and I think these two could. Brolin definatly can.
And it must be nice to know how movies will turn out by one picture on a magazine cover. How do you do it?

In response to EricG:
I know it will bomb, based on the fact that it's an Oliver Stone movie. Oliver Stone hasn't had a good track record when it comes to historical figures recently, ie Alexander.

While Paul Giamatti is a fabulous actor and I am sure he would do a great job as Cheney... you know who else is a fabulous actor that looks JUST like the guy? RICHARD DREYFUSS!

Of course.. Alexander was an action flick based on a person that most of the American public couldn't care less about.
